Community construction & the criminalization of Jewish life.

burglar1On Monday, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon predictably assailed Israel’s announced decision to build 800 new apartments in Ma’aleh Adumim and eastern Jerusalem.

He noted that just four days earlier, the Middle East Quartet (i.e. the U.S., EU, UN and Russia) had issued a report deeming settlement construction an obstacle to peace.  What Ban didn’t mention is that just a few days before that report came out, a leading Israeli leftist expert on the settlements published a comprehensive rebuttal of this claim, providing facts and figures showing that the settlements effectively aren’t growing at all.

The sheer unbridled racism and arrogance of the international Left, of the EU, the UN, and the Obama administration never ceases to amaze.

They honestly want us to believe that Jews living upon, and thus building upon, land that we come from, and that was purchased, makes us thieves.

They honestly want us to believe that the land of our ancestors actually belongs to the Arab invaders of the seventh-century CE despite the fact that Israel was the land of the Jewish people millennia before Muhammad’s armies showed up with their religious-imperialist ideology of head-chopping.

The hypocrisy is profound.

The Criminalization of Jewish Existence

Ban Ki-moon wants us to think that the decision to build 800 new apartments in Ma’aleh Adumim and the eastern section of Jerusalem somehow represents an obstacle to peace?  How is this possible?  If an Arab builds a home in the suburbs of Paris is that a war crime?  Is that an obstacle to peace?

Should that Arab not be allowed to build on land that he has purchased because it is not “Arab land”?

Anyone who ever suggested any such thing would be knocked in the head as a stone-cold racist, but not if you suggest it about a Jew living in Judaea!

If a Jew building a second bathroom for his family in the eastern part of Jerusalem, or anywhere in the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people, is an obstacle to peace it is only because the Arabs and the EU and the UN and the Obama administration have made it an obstacle to peace.  There is nothing unpeaceful about building on property that one has purchased and that is precisely what we are talking about.

They are criminalizing the mere Jewish presence on Jewish land because Jews cannot live on that land if they cannot build on that land.  Does the Obama administration really want to tell the Jews of Judaea that if they build an elementary school for their children that they are unethically imposing upon the rights of Arabs?

A Touch of History

The Arabs stormed out of their peninsula in the seventh-century, gobbled up the Middle East, almost took-over Europe, but were stopped at the “gates of Vienna” and thereby had to satisfy themselves merely with conquering the Iberian Peninsula.

Since that time they have conducted an ongoing genocide of both the Christians and the Jews in the Middle East and, yet, somehow, feel themselves morally aggrieved.

It is an astonishing long-term propaganda success story.

Arab-Muslim imperial aggression is historically the foremost example of imperial aggression in the world. It even, remarkably, overshadows imperial Roman expansion. Medieval Christian Europe responded to this Arab-Muslim aggression against their fellow Christians with what we call “the Crusades.”  In the West the Crusades are interpreted as a form of European malice that is often docketed with other atrocities, including the Holocaust.

The reason for this is because, since the Enlightenment, Europe and the West have undergone a remarkable transformation that has brought us from a primarily theological worldview to a primarily secular and scientific worldview.  The secular and the scientific suggested a questioning stance toward the world.  This questioning stance met with Jewish introspection and moral sensibilities to give us the West as we know it today.

{G-d help us.}

As we know, the Arab-Muslim world has not gone through such a reformation since the early days of the empire… when Islam stood atop the world.  There was a time when Islamic societies led in science and discovery, but those days are long over and the reason for that is because Islam means “submission” – not “peace” as Obama would tell you – and submission by its nature must stifle free inquiry.

Ask Galileo.

Community Construction and the Racist Left

And this brings us back around to those uppity Jews, like my friend Yosef Hartuv of Love of the Land fame, and all the other hippie Jews like, say, Yishai Fleisher, who insist that we have every right to live in the land of our posterity.
When racists like Barack Obama suggest that the Jewish people have no right to build on historically Jewish land they are resurrecting old, long established, medieval tropes that portray Jews as endless wanderers… as the Wandering Jew.
Somewhere in the introductory pages of A Tale of Love and Darkness Amos Oz reminds us that early twentieth-century European Jews were told, and I paraphrase,
“Get out of Europe! Go back to Palestine where you belong!”
Now we are told by leftist legends like former White House correspondent Helen Thomas to
get the hell out of Palestine.”
The Jewish people are a long abused minority and we represent a whopping .02 percent of the world population.

Much of the Left often suggests that world peace is dependent upon making the Jews of the Middle East leap through imaginary hoops.

But the Day of the Dhimmi is Done.

My suspicion is that a growing number of Jewish people are getting tired of being pushed against the wall – for our own alleged well-being – by false friends like Barack Obama.

The real lesson of the Holocaust is that we must stand up for ourselves.

From Israel: “Give No Quarter!!”

The world is in horrendous shape.  And yet, yet the focus is on us, here …

  1. My latest take on the ME endless conflict ( so far ) is:

If the “Quartet” and whoever else has been involved with the best intention of finalising the Israel-arab conflict, the entire saaga would have been well behind us. I am not even worried about the constant criticism of Israel in most int’l fora simply because I have been bought up to expect that almost all others around me dislike me for being Jewish ,therefore , criticism as such, including media articles, brochures and full volumes of “antisemitica” , TV broadcasts, demos etc. have been forever my normal existential diet. What REALLY concerns me is the ostensive encouragement of the aggressive “palestinian” side, degenerated by now into a tool of manouvre in a vast variety of related and even unrelated issues on the principal topic, the anti Israel comprehensive assaults.
Should the same “concerned” world cease supporting a lost cause, i.e the palestinian obnoxious war monger agenda, thus practically motivating anti-Israel quarters to keep up the “good work”, the whole conflict would have been sorted out.
I dare conceive that Israel’s Jews and her arab neighbours could create a federated entity, similar to the EU, whereby harmonious interchanges would ensure that NO harsh uttering, let alone violence, could possibly be fathomed between the parties.
Toady’s Israel is as Middle Eastern in all respects as any adjacent state. I can imagine a Levant without borders, without friction creating a veritable good ol’ Garden of Eden where my people would be allowed to be the bloody Jews we have been since time immemorial and muslims and the rest can go about their lives happy that their next door kikes contribute to the common happiness.
Israel has always wanted this, it is about time all improvised “quartets” pull their finger and help Israel convey the message to the spoilt, criminally protected next door suckers.

( nice seeing you Michael, mate !!)

    • Hey, Otto, Shirlee, and you guys,

Y’know, Shirlee changed my titled from “Settlement construction…” to “Community construction…” and I am with it.

I just find it rather odd that a normal word like “settlement” suddenly becomes sinister when applied to Jewish people in the land of Israel.

And, as you know, the word “Zionist” has become an epithet for many people.

So, I definitely agree with Shirlee that the language we use in describing the long Arab war against the Jews is important.

The first thing, in my opinion, that we should insist upon, in this regard, is purging the term “West Bank” from our lexicon. It erases 3,500 years of Jewish history on Jewish land and that is why the Jordanians put it forth to begin with.

Western liberals do not have any clue about this truth and that is why we must let them know. Judea and Samaria. Or Yehuda and Shomron. As far as I am concerned “West Bank” might as well be anti-Zionist terminology.

“What REALLY concerns me is the ostensive encouragement of the aggressive “palestinian” side, degenerated by now into a tool of manouvre in a vast variety of related and even unrelated issues on the principal topic, the anti Israel comprehensive assaults.”

You’re probably aware that the New York University chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine managed to connect Israel (and therefore the Jews, ultimately) to a few recent cop shootings.

A white American cop shoots a black American youth… and that is the fault of Jews on the other side of the planet?

      {It never ceases to amaze.}

  2. Leon Poddebsky

As usual, Michael, you are spot on.
Choice of language is vital in the defence of Jewish truth against antisemites’ lies and slander.
As we know, it is not just “settlements”, ” west bank,” “Zionist” which both “left” and “right” pervert; let us not forget that “Western culture” has imparted to the very word, “Jew”, a sinister connotation: hence those non-Jews who think innocently that they are avoiding “offensive language,” do not refer to Jews by the use of that word; instead they use the “polite,” he / she is “Jewish,” as if the effect of the adjectival form mitigates the “offensiveness” of the noun.
And, we all know, I’m sure that The Oxford Dictionary”publishers won a court case in Britain, defending their definition of “Jew” as someone who cheats in business etc on the grounds that this is a conventional usage of the word- and , in the minds, mouths and pens of many, it really is.

  3. Leon Poddebsky

Another thing: I was really pleased to see that you quite aptly did not use the misleading phrase, ” Arab-Israeli conflict” or ” ‘Palestinian’-Israeli conflict,” but the correct, true, genuine, non-hypocritical phrase, ” the long Arab war against the Jewish people.”

The wicked of the world refuse to admit that were it not for Arab exclusivist, apartheid, genocidal fanaticism, there would not be a “conflict.”

    • Heya Leon,

      nice to see you.

As you well know, the language that we use on any issue heavily influences how we think on that issue.

This is part of the reason that I put a certain significance to Daily Kos. It is, or was, the largest Democratic Party blog in the world and how they frame the Long Arab War Against the Jews tells us much about how the Democrats feel not only about Israel, but about Jews, in general.

  4. The other thing everyone must stop saying is ’67 borders’

No such thing. The Green Line is the LINE where a war stopped.

    Ergo ’67 LINES’

    • Leon Poddebsky

It is an outrage against truth, decency and justice that the United Nations, which mediated the 1949 Armistice Agreements that led to a pause in the long Arab war against the Jewish People, now refers to non-existent ” 1967 borders.”
The UN itself is a party to the 1949 regime, under which negotiations between the aggressor Arab states and Israel should have proceeded with the aim of fixing international borders to replace the temporary 1949 Armistice Lines [ aka ‘the Green Line.]
There is no such thing as “the 1967 borders”; the 1949 Armistice Lines were the demarcating lines.
The “international community” must be fully aware of these facts.
They falsify, mislead and lie by using the term “borders” in order to insinuate dishonestly that in Israel’s defensive war of 1967, Israel illegally conquered the territory of another state with which it had had an international border.
Judea and Samaria were not a state, but territory that the aggressor, Jordan, had illegally been occupying since it had ethnically cleansed all Jews out of there in 1948.
That territory had been internationally recognised in 1922 as an integral part of the Jewish national Home.
And today we witness people like the President of the USA disgracing themselves and their countries by condemning Jews for wanting to live legally and peacefully in their Home, and slandering them by accusing them falsely of acting illegally.

This international campaign is one of the worst anti-Jewish outrages since the Shoah.
