A guest post written by the incorrigible Kay Wilson.
In light of the predictable libellous rhetoric from the Palestinian Authority against “Jews” and Israel during the Christmas season, here are a few facts.
The New Testament says, “Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea,” (Matthew 2:1). The Romans called it “Judaea” (Jew-dea), because funnily enough, that’s where “Jews” lived.
Israeli archaeologists discovered a 2700 year-old seal. Engraved in ancient Hebrew was the word “Bethlehem,” pointing to Jewish settlement that stretches back nearly 3 millennia.
There has not been one archaeological discovery that shows that there was ever a kingdom, a state or a country called “Palestine.”
Not one… in contrast of course to the hundreds that testify to the Province of Judaea and even earlier.
Hebrew has been spoken and written by Jews for 1000’s of years – as that Bethlehem seal testifies. There is no such language as “Palestinian,” and there never has been. Modern-day “Palestinians” speak several dialects of Arabic.
According to the New Testament, Jesus was circumcised, observed Jewish holidays, studied Jewish Law and wore Jewish clothes. (Luke 2:21, 2:41, 2:46, 8:44)
Today, Jesus would not be allowed into Bethlehem because the Palestinian leadership has declared it (like all other areas under their authority), to be “Jew-free.”
The word “Palestine” does not appear anywhere in the New Testament or the “Old.”
Don’t forget that any viable peace must always, and only, be based on truth… and it is towards peace that I strive to make our world a better place.
