“Join Team AUSTRALIA”

Finally someone has the guts to stand up and say it how it is .

Today our esteemed Prime Minister Tony Abbott, told migrants  not to come here unless they are prepared to be part of “TEAM AUSTRALIA”.

Terrific, about time and long overdue. Multiculturalism has destroyed the character of every country it has invaded. People live here but are not “part of Team Australia.”

Police in Sydney denied a pro-Palestinian group a permit to stage a rally outside of a cinema to protest the opening of an Israeli Film Festival. Today the matter went to court. One person on their Facebook page said:

“I’m ashamed to be Australian”

and that is what Team Australia is not about.

This is taken from the full transcript of the speech on Radicalisation and Islamic extremism of the British Prime David Cameron in Munich 5th. February 2011.

Under the doctrine of state multiculturalism, we have encouraged different cultures to live separate lives, apart from each other and the mainstream.

We have failed to provide a vision of society to which they feel they want to belong.

We have even tolerated these segregated communities behaving in ways that run counter to our values.

This too is the same here and is not what Team Australia is  about.

Tony Abbott today was trying to bring mainstream Muslims in from the Sydney cold, enlisting support to stop Australian militants fighting overseas.

The Prime Minister told a multicultural media conference that no one should be complacent about the threat of home grown terrorism.

“There is one thing that could damage the rich and strong social fabric of our country, it would be a mass casualty event.”

“Everyone has got to be on team Australia.”

Angry Islamic leaders fear the anti-terror laws unfairly target the Muslim community.

Is this guilt on their part? After all 99% of the terrorist activity in the world is Islamic.

Unless these Islamic Community leaders and average Muslim people come out and denounce terrorism, this is bound to happen.

Earlier this month, the Government announced a $630 million boost to security agencies and new legislation to target Australians who travel overseas to fight with terrorist organisations.

The Government says about 160 Australians are currently fighting with, or assisting, terrorist groups in the Middle East, which is a huge problem when they come back here radicalised.

In my opinion, Australian or not, if they have been in the ME fighting with known terror groups, they shouldn’t be permitted back into this country. That fact should be made very clear before they leave.

In a Press Conference this morning for ethnic community media in Sydney Mr Abbott said

“Coming to Australia means that you are joining our team and I reckon it’s the best team on earth,”

He was asked to explain the proposed crackdown – which has been criticised by some Muslim groups.

“If you leave Australia to join the Pakistani army because you happen to be a dual citizen that’s certainly not illegal,”

“But if you leave our country as an Australian citizen, as an Australian resident, as anyone at all to join a terrorist group overseas, to work with a terrorist group overseas, that is illegal.”

“And if you come back to Australia you will be arrested, you will be prosecuted, and if you are successfully prosecuted there will be a substantial jail term.”

“Everyone has got to be on ‘Team Australia’,” he said.

“Everyone has got to put this country, its interests, its values and its people first, and you don’t migrate to this country unless you want to join our team.”

Community leaders emerged from the meeting saying it was a positive discussion that marked the beginning of more consultation.

Naturally good old Keysar Trad from the ‘Islamic Friendship Association’ expressed concerns about the Government’s move to make it illegal to travel to areas of terrorist activity.

Ahead of the meeting, he told ABC Radio that reversing the onus of proof for people returning from those areas would “spell disaster” for the legal system.

“We don’t want to see the actions of a few lunatics be used to take away our hard-earned civil liberties as a nation.”

The worrying part as far as I am concerned, and no doubt a great many others too, is  why is Tony Abbott consulting with a Keysar Trad on our national security?

Keysar Trad from the Islamic Friendship Association says Australian Muslim leaders are just as concerned about Australia’s national security… but says some of the Government’s proposals go too far, such as the move to make it illegal to travel to an area of terrorist activity, such as Iraq or Syria.

Andrew Bolt says:

“That’s this same Keysar Trad, now claiming to be just as concerned as the rest of us about jihadists:

Trad was the former spokesman of the pro-Hezbollah Mufti of Australia, the extremist Sheik Taj Al-Din Al-Hilaly… [Trad] had been a translator for the pro-Osama bin Laden and pro-jihadist Nida’ul Islam magazine, where he wrote: ``The criminal dregs of white society colonised this country . . . and the descendants of these criminal dregs tell us that they are better than us.’’

Senator Cory Bernardi tells the Senate his views on Trad, now advising the Prime Minister on how to deal with national security:

In 2009, the New South Wales Supreme Court found that Mr Trad ‘incites people to commit acts of violence’, ‘incites people to have racist attitudes’ and is a ‘dangerous and disgraceful individual’.

Mr Trad’s own website used to have a link to a website he touted as having ‘very good articles concerning Islam and Muslims’. But the courts found that this website held ‘significant anti-Semitic views’… When he was interviewed by a journalist, Mr Trad said words to the effect of, ‘There are many Jews who question how many died in the Holocaust’, which the judge saw as ‘an attempt to diminish the significance of those events.’ In the end, both courts deemed that this showed that Mr Keysar Trad incited violence against Jewish people…

Then there is the finding that Mr Trad is a ‘dangerous individual’… This was based on the following opinion of Mr Trad: When talking about the gang rape of young women in Sydney by a group of Lebanese men, in one interview Mr Trad chose to tell a joke and described these types of perpetrators as ‘stupid young boys’. The court said that his comments about the issue ‘demeaned the victims of the crime’, ‘did not condemn the perpetrators’ and ‘trivialised the responsibility of rapists.’ ..

Does Tony Abbott think that Keysar Trad and those of his ilk really want to be part of his ‘Team Australia’?

  1. It’s ridiculous that Abbott consults the Muslim community before making policy in the national interest. if they truly are a peacful community, they should be happy to support this initiative.

Of course we also have our usual dopey academics liike Prof Michele Grossman of Victoria University, who said “people driven to extremism already felt alienated from the community and this would “compound” people’s lack of belonging.” There are many people who might feel they don’t belong, but their reaction is not to commit terrorist acts. Monash Uni prof Greg Barton also worried that cutting welfare paybments to jihadis would “risk losing the trut of the broader Muslim community”.

It’s beyond ridiculous that the taxpayers fund the salaries of these academics.

    • have to agree with you pam, the academic community are actually really ill informed and follow a group think ideal that will only bring further discord down the line. as far our leaders appeasement will not work with this virulent and aggressive section of the community, it will be seen as weakness. the west has never understood the middle east and the cultures, often painting some romantic form of marxism over barbaric totalitarianism. political correctness and the idea of moral relativity have dumbed down any clear thinking about these issues. australia is quickly following euroarabia.

Time is running out appeasing the Islamic community is not the answer. The government of the day has to show strength. They are completely out of touch with reality, the average Australian knows “We are not in Kansas anymore!”
