Coalition will ban more terrorist organisations & be harder on visas for extremists.

The Coalition revealed as part of their election strategy that they are committed to upgrading relations with Israel as part of a suite of new policies on the Middle East that includes banning more terrorist organisations and a harder line on visits to Australia by extremists.

A Coalition government would also step-up opposition to the “boycott, divestment and sanctions” campaign against Israel, withholding taxpayer funds from any organisation that actively backed the movement.

Under a range of new policies – which are being directed by Mr Abbott with broad support within the opposition – the Coalition would seek to ban the Islamist extremist organisation Hizb Ut-Tahrir and prevent foreign members of the group coming to Australia to promote extremism.

The Coalition will also seek fresh advice from ASIO on the question of banning the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas and the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah. Only the militant wings of these groups are currently banned in Australia, while the US, Canada and a number of Western nations have banned the entire organisations.

Coalition policy documents draw attention to the fact that the US and Canada have banned more than twice as many terrorist organisations as Australia has.

The Coalition plans to make it more difficult for “preachers of hate” to visit Australia. It believes the federal government has the power to stop such visits on character grounds and should do so much more frequently.

An Abbott government would also strengthen Australia’s opposition to the BDS campaign by committing to a government-wide policy that prevents additional grants of taxpayers’ funds to individuals and organisations that actively support the BDS campaign. The moves are widely supported in the Coalition but also reflect Mr Abbott’s long-standing personal commitment to supporting Israel

I know we are all very familiar with the Constitutions of both Hezbollah and Hamas and their call for the destruction of Israel.

What do we know of Hizb ut-Tahrir? Do we want them in this country?

From Wikipedia

Hizb ut-Tahrir (Arabic: حزب التحرير‎ izb at-Tarīr; Party of Liberation) is an international pan-Islamic political organisation. They are commonly associated with the goal of all Muslim countries unifying as an Islamic state or caliphate ruled by Islamic law (sharia) and with a caliph head of state elected by Muslims.

The organization was founded in 1953 as a Sunni Muslim organization in Jerusalem by Taqiuddin al-Nabhani, an Islamic scholar and appeals court judge (Qadi)from the Palestinian village of Ijzim. Since then Hizb ut-Tahrir has spread to more than 40 countries and by one estimate has about one million members.Hizb ut-Tahrir is very active in the West, particularly in the United Kingdom, and is also active in several Arab and Central Asian countries, despite being banned by some governments. The group also has a growing presence in North America, known as Hizb ut-tahrir America, or HTA.

Hizb ut-Tahrir believes the re-establishment of caliphate would provide stability and security to both Muslims and non-Muslims in the predominantly Muslim regions of the world. The party promotes a detailed program for institution of a caliphate that would establish Shariah and carry “the Da’wah of Islam” to the world. Hizb ut-Tahrir is also strongly anti-Zionist and calls for the State of Israel, which it calls an “illegal entity,” to be dismantled.

The “ABOUT” section of their web site states:

‘Hizb ut-Tahrir is a political party whose ideology is Islam, so politics is its work and Islam is its ideology. It works within the Ummah and together with her, so that she adopts Islam as her cause and is led to restore the Khilafah and the ruling by what Allah (swt) revealed. Hizb ut-Tahrir is a political group and not a priestly one. Nor is it an academic, educational or a charity group. The Islamic thought is the soul of its body, its core and the secret of its life”

“Its purpose was to revive the Islamic Ummah from the severe decline that it had reached, and to liberate it from the thoughts, systems and laws of Kufr, as well as the domination and influence of the Kufr states. It also aims to restore the Islamic Khilafah State so that the ruling by what Allah (swt) revealed returns.”

“The work of Hizb ut-Tahrir is to carry the Islamic da’wah in order to change the situation of the corrupt society so that it is transformed into an Islamic society.

It aims to do this by firstly changing the society’s existing thoughts to Islamic thoughts so that such thoughts become the public opinion among the people, who are then driven to implement and act upon them.

Secondly the Party works to change the emotions in the society until they become Islamic emotions that accept only that which pleases Allah (swt) and rebel against and detest anything which angers Allah (swt).

Finally, the Party works to change the relationships in the society until they become Islamic relationships which proceed in accordance with the laws and solutions of Islam. These actions which the Party performs are political actions, since they relate to the affairs of the people in accordance with the Shari’ah rules and solutions, and politics in Islam is looking after the affairs of the people, either in opinion or in execution or both, according to the laws and solutions of Islam.”

I leave you to judge this comment from Uthman Badar, Media Representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir, who said in a Media Statement .

What carries of thoughts and ideas – the superiority of Islam over other ideologies, the establishment of Islam in the Muslim world in the form of the Caliphate, the political unity of the Muslim world, the sovereignty of God, and the like – are shared by millions of Muslims globally. Criminalising them is to criminalise the ideas of millions of Muslims. Indeed, it is to criminalise Islam itself, as these are fundamental ideals of Islam.

The following are some of the  the words of speeches in this video. The third speaker being the worst

Sydney demo: Uprising in the Muslim world 2011 [Jan 31 2011]

Those who are before me today, to the Muslims in the West, to the Muslims in this country, I say to you that indeed are a part of this great ummah, let it be clear that you are not Australian, you are not British, you are not American, you are Muslim.  Those who would divide you from the body of this ummah, let it be known that our allegiance is to Islam and Islam alone. That our support is to Muslims & to Muslims alone

Let it be known that you are part of this great ummah & don’t believe anyone that will suggest otherwise

We are not an ummah which will be content at the crumbs which are thrown at us. We are not an ummah which will be content at sharing the power. We are not an ummah which will be content to remain in a position of subjugation. We are not an ummah which will be confined to remain in artificial borders. We are not an ummah which will be content with sharing the power. We are not an ummah which will be content to accept the most vile rulers of mankind.  We are the ummah of Mohamed etc

Interview of Uthman Badar (media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Australia) with Stan Grant on Newsnight 22/04/13 (Skynews) about the Boston bombings and broader related issues.

  2. Among others, the Sydney University “Peace and Reconciliation Studies” Centre should not receive taxpayers’ money because, judging from the frequency and stridency of its constant public pronouncements, boycotting Israel seems to be its sole function.
That Centre is currently asking for a fat grant to fund what is ostensibly a subject that is unrelated to BDS, but, knowing the virulent hatred that it has for Israel, I’m sure that the Centre can spin just about any topic in such a way as to slander Israel.

When voices are raised expressing similar views to the above, be prepared to smash the Centre’s self-righteous invocation of freedom of expression by pointing out that the Centre is a totalitarian machine that does not tolerate any views about the conflict except its own institutional anti-Zionism. That is an anomaly in a university which, its Vice-Chancellor keeps telling us, is a place for the airing of diverse views, and thus the Centre violates the norms of intellectual integrity. (Despite this, it is tolerated by Sydney University.)

The Centre constantly attempts to gag pro-Israel voices by accusing the Centre’s critics of trying to stifle freedom of expression: typical totalitarian censorship and terrorism.

  3. The new government is certainly much better than Labour at standing up for democratic rights, which is what a government should be doing. While free speech is a cornerstone of democracies, those who incite violence have no place in the conversation, as they are abusing our liberties in order to undermine them.

Okey, I agree that the “Peace and Reconciliation Studies” unit should be held to account, as it is essentially supporting terrorists, whose aim is to destroy a country with which Australia has good relations. In fact, disbanding it could only help the cause of free speech, as we know that far left totalitarians will not allow anyone with a different viewpoint.
