From the Facebook page of Palestine Action Group Sydney

“As part of the ongoing campaign for solidarity with Palestine, Palestine Action Group will be holding a peaceful protest against Max Brenner at Parramatta Westfield on Saturday, 17 August to show solidarity with Palestine and boycott Israeli apartheid.

Max Brenner is an ongoing target of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign for its support for Israel and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
Max Brenner supports the torture, displacement and genocide of the Palestinians. The company is owned by…”

The last line of their diatribe is …

“Help us build the event by sharing and inviting your friends list”

I wonder how many invites were sent by their 2,664 invited guests.?

According to their FB page there were 318 acceptances. By the look of the numbers on the photos, there were no more than 25.

Max Brenner

I’ve been involved now close to 3 years with BDS actions and have seen their numbers diminishing rapidly. The first one in Parramatta involved a couple of hundred people. The noise from their screaming was deafening. Mind you, this was before the police knew what was in store for them and they were not more than a few metres from Max Brenner.

Until this time I certainly didn’t hold with the line “Don’t give them oxygen”. It was standing there, watching and listening to a  screaming horde, most of whom I think were part of ‘rent-a-crowd’, that I realised how stupid it was.

Two hundred people standing there screaming…

“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”

Alternating it with

“Max Brenner, come off it,  there’s blood in your hot chocolate”

I also came to realise that most people just walked passed these happenings taking absolutely no notice. In fact,it has been good for business for Max Brenner. Their sales figures have shown an amazing increase with all the free publicity. Fortunately the media and politicians are on side.

Where it was initially organised by Patrick Langosch and his Socialist Alternative Party, a Marxist Party, not the Greens, which was a popular misconception, it is now being run by a young guy who is so full of hate it’s not funny. I’ve had a few run-ins with him. He claims to come from East Jerusalem.

His group Palestine Action Group Sydney, along with the Socialist Alternative Party, have in its group a fair few of the ‘enemy within’. One of whom I have ‘engaged’ with regularly, who is not only Jewish, but Gay too. I’ve pointed out to him on a number of occasions, that he’d better not go to Gaza, as Hamas would soon have him hanging on the nearest crane. !!

Photos of yesterday’s ‘rally’.

And last, and by no means least, as the third photo shows, whilst this was going on outside Max Brenner’s chocolate shop, three Muslim girls, complete with hijabs, were sitting there drinking their hot chocolate !!!

THAT IS WHAT I CALL PRICELESS

A group based in New Zealand has been found to have dozens of antisemitic posts …

  1. It’s bizarre that Jewish people join in a group of bigots who are pledged not only to destroy Israel, but extend their hatred to all Jews. Do these Jews who join the enemy think they will be spared from the hatred? To Jew-haters, all Jews are bad, even self-hating ones who are prepared to denounce their fellow Jews. In fact, such Jews, regarded as useful idiots, will be the first to be disposed of once their usefulness has come to an end.

    • I was thinking that just this week!! Pam, from your mouth to their ears .. the questions is, do they every read these things?

      • Maybe they are trying to save themselves from the hatred of these bigots, and estimate that if they join them, they will be spared. They might not consciously reason like this, but at a subconscious level this might be their rationale. Siding with anti-Semites also gives them instant (though temporary) popularity, as they can be wheeled out as examples of ‘brave’ Jews. Or maybe they’re just stupid!

  2. Re the 3 Muslim girls, I wonder what the punishment is for joining the enemy and having a hot chocolate at Max Brenners. Surely they’d know that it was forbidden to aid the enemy.

Exactly. The worst possible response is to do nothing. BDS, and what is behind it, must be confronted and vigorously. The “keep your head down and the storm will pass” mentality to antisemitic outbursts especially when it is in the streets leads to disaster not just for Jews but for everybody. Surely we know this by now.

  4. The palestine action group need to recognise Max Brenner “right to exist”.
    Great photos!!!

  5. I sent the photo of the ‘hijabbed’ young ladies to Andrew Bolt, who just replied “GOOD STUFF”

  6. Hang on a minute!
Wasn’t there some kind of law in Vic. prohibiting these kind of hate shows, particularly where the notion/word of “boycott” would be brandished? !! And weren’t security supposed not to allows these demos take place in shopping centres? !!
And isn’t the Jewish leadership supposed to do something at communal level to counter-act these public anti Israel, anti Semitic public displays?!! Considering that they can be easily anticipated, our Aussie Jews seem to be losing the contest.
Too many questions, I don’t think so.

    • Otto, yes, there is the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act, used by the Islamic Council of Vic to silence two Christian pastors. There’s no reason why the Jewish leadership couldn’t take action under this legislation.

The Jewish leadership, instead of making a moral stand, are leading us into yet more duplicitous interfaith dialogue, often with groups who support the BDS movement, -which the Islamic Council does. You’d think the Jewish leaders would have the guts to put in a strong objection to their interfaith ‘partners’.

Yet if any in the community dare object, they are sidelined.

      • Pam there is nothing to take action against. BDS actions are almost non-existent now. The general public has shown their dis-interest and dislike of it.

    • “Wasn’t there some kind of law in Vic. prohibiting these kind of hate shows, particularly where the notion/word of “boycott” would be brandished?”

      NO !!

“And weren’t security supposed not to allows these demos take place in shopping centres?”

      THEY DON’T !!

“And isn’t the Jewish leadership supposed to do something at communal level to counter-act these public anti Israel, anti Semitic public displays?

NO !!! And pray tell what you expect them to do Otto?

“Considering that they can be easily anticipated, our Aussie Jews seem to be losing the contest.”

I monitor their web sites and CSG is notified, who in turn notify the Police. There is plenty of Police presence.

There is very little BDS action in this country. We’ve put a stop to most of it, the general public have showed their distaste for it and the Media and Government is on side.

There is a small but very active group in both Brisbane and Adelaide. Even Melbourne, where most of the trouble was has gone very quiet

  7. Shirlee
Pam reckons there is a Law and maybe this Law could be activated in the BDS case.

The actual action/reaction against public manifestations of anti Semitism would be opportunities to achieve a few important things in our communal profile of PRIDE and identity SUBSTANCE. Unless anyone guarantees me that anti Semitic manifestations shall never happen, then my call for a strong AFIRMATIVE Jew in the current and next generation is a valid one. ( of all people et tu Shirlee, advocating for non-action !! I reckon as of today I decided that I was no longer born somewhere in the centre of Bucharest, but in London’s East End meself………) .

How to go about it. I reckon ( another one ) that, upon my return to Aust. we can do something back home and, guess what, I would count on you to spearhead such a move. After all I cannot change my place of birth and neither can “anyone” else………..

Anyway , unfortunately this BDS and who knows what else will, unfortunately, befall us, so a contingent of tachles is long overdue.

  8. Shirlee, I hope you’re right about BDS being a non-event in Australia. I’m not entirely convinced.

  9. Sorry, Shirlee, I don’t wish it, but it ain’t over yet.
Anyway, I was referring to the larger picture. We cannot assume that the Palestinian front has abandoned local, Aust., public anti Israel manifestations.

  10. Otto, it’s a well known fact that Australians will not tolerate foreign issues being aired on their shores. I follow loads of blogs and web sites and so many people had never heard of MB and said they would go and support it because of this,

  11. Shirlee, I totally agree with you, save the following exceptions:

a.- thousands of Australian Chinese clash on both sides of the highly conflictual Communist China ( red flags flying in your face ) vs Nationalist and even HKG Chinese
b.- hundreds of Serbs clashing, as in clashing, with Croatians wherever the occasion.
c.- Copts and Assyrians together against Muslim B/hood wherever they are. Meeting place of choice/demos Martin Place
d.- a certain Chinese para religious sect vs PR China, constant vigils in front of Chinese diplomatic missions
e.- Tibetan constant vigils against the same Chinese
f.- occasional Venezuelan demo vs the Socialist rigged elections etc.
g.- Armenian demos. vs Turkish massacre revisionists
    Last:
h.- various groups demos ( at least twice/year ) in support of the Palestinian causes blocking at least Sydney CBD during peak hour, crossing into shopping malls, central parks, duration min. three hour to which, according to the “News and Views from Jews”, one would add BDS demos……………..

i- rowdy, uncivilized, highly disturbing Jewish protesters gathering inside Synagogue in support of Zionism, making speeches, praying in Hebrew, dancing foreign dances (hora) on foreign music AND lyrics inside courtyard of the same synagogues under the watchful eye of three police officers specially discharged to maintain order. During the voluntary dispersement of the participants, tables at a number of Double Bay restaurants became impossible to access for hours !!! One waitress dropped and broke a number of plates saying that she’s never seen such “madness” ( her own words ! ).

Obviously point “i” is meant in jest, but drives home my other message, that all those who have a foreign beef, BBQ it right on our parks, streets etc, indeed polluting the civil atmosphere and we are the only ones doing the “same” safely indoors, thus sending the message well within the same four walls with a faint whiff of the intended meaning filtering where it should be heard loud and clear. On this score I must remind you that I was very proud of Shirlee Finn sending an excellent letter to AJN at the time of the embarrassing event……..

  12. Good to see that nothing can stand in the way of a few Parramatta locals enjoying Max Brenner! Oil may cause conflict in the world but perhaps chocolate has the power to make peace? 😉

  13. Geoff Dickson

Great photo of those Muslimas checking out the infidel chocolate shop.
I have seen the same in Max Brenner at Southbank in Brisbane but I did not have my camera.
One BDS protest was at Seacret cosmetics in the Myer centre and when I was there, they had rung “Rent an Arab” because I talked to their leader Abdullah who was a visitor “of mid eastern extraction”.
Abdullah told me that he believes in Moses who had predicted the prophet Ahmed (Mohammed), so I asked him “do you follow the Ten Commandments then?”. Silence.
