The ‘Palestinian’ Art of Stone -Throwing.

Stone-throwing.  What  is it with Palestinians, read Arabs ?

A definition of stone-throwing

Individuals or groups who deliberately target and attempt to maim or murder people, by throwing rocks of a size and mass that can accomplish this objective, either directly at them, or at the vehicles in which they are riding.

When you think about stone-throwing, what comes to mind?

In my mind it’s skimming stones into a river or pond relaxing and watching the ripples on a sunny afternoon from the river bank. The furthest thing from my mind is hurling rocks/stones at people to harm them, or at vehicles to cause an accident or as is often the case, to kill.

The western media make so light of it, when we know what damage and harm to people and property it causes. They highlight children throwing stones at tanks and question where is the harm?

The point is it’s not just children, it’s violent Palestinian Arab youth who are out of control, it’s women too and not only in Israel.

I know in some Arab/Muslim countries they practice the barbaric act of stoning people to death. I was under the impression that stoning was only a punishment inflicted on women. I searched to find out if it was in the Koran. I find stoning is not prescribed in the current version of the Koran.  According to Muhammad’s companions, a verse that ordered stoning existed at one time but was forgotten. However in several places in the Hadith stoning is in fact ordered, but only for adultery.

An item in Wikipedia is of interest:

A map showing countries where public stoning is a judicial or extrajudicial form of punishment, as of 2013.

Rajm is an Arabic (رجم) word that means “stoning“.   It is commonly used to refer to the Hudud punishment wherein an organized group throws stones at a convicted individual until that person dies.  Under Islamic law, it is the prescribed punishment in cases of adultery committed by a married man or married woman.  The conviction requires a confession from either the adulterer/adulteress, or the testimony of four witnesses (as prescribed by the Quran in Surah an-Nur verse 4).  Some Muslim sects such as Khawarij disagree entirely regarding its legality, arguing that it cannot be found in the Qur’an.  Surah an-Nur of Quran prescribes lashing for premarital sex (a form of zina) among unmarried men and women, but makes no mention of punishment for adultery.  However, multiple sunnah in hadiths mention stoning and therefore most Muslim schools of jurisprudence accept it as a prescribed punishment for adultery.

Hanafites have traditionally held that the witnesses should throw the first stones in case the conviction was brought about by witnesses, and the qadi must throw the first stones in case the conviction was brought about by a confession.

So I guess the stoning on the Temple Mount, of tanks, and of cars don’t fit into that category!!

I dread to think the damage this ‘baby’ could cause.

‘Palestinian’ stone-throwing is a Palestinian political tactic or action in which projectiles such as rocks, stones, bricks, chunks of concrete and similar materials, are thrown, hurled or catapulted at Israeli civilians or security forces, or those mistaken for such, and/or at the vehicles in which they are riding, producing damage to said vehicles, and often casualties and sometimes fatalities.

Seems women are at it too.

According to journalist Jodi Rudoren, many Palestinian Arabs  see stone-throwing as, “a rite of passage and an honored act of defiance”.

Amira Hass has defended Palestinian stone–throwing as the, “birthright and duty of anyone subject to foreign rule”, and as “a metaphor of resistance”.

Marouf Hasian and Lisa A. Flores have the interpreted stone-throwing that took place during the First Intifada as a means of creating a collective identity, a historical tradition, and – ultimately – a Palestinian nation.

David A. MacDonald understands stone throwing as, “resistance performance… strategically engineered to reinforce the sacred relationship between the nation and the land”.

In a West Bank Culture of Conflict, Boys Wield the Weapon at Hand. (Please read this article)

In Beit Ommar, Judaea & Samaria, in August 2013 Muhammad Abu Hashem who is 17 years old, was arrested for the fourth time in three years for throwing stones at Israeli soldiers and Jewish inhabitants. His five brothers — three older and two younger — have all faced similar charges. Last year, three Abu Hashem boys, and their father, were in prison at the same time.

Muhammad explained weeks before his most recent arrest.

“Children have hobbies and my hobby is throwing stones. A day with a confrontation is better than a free day.”

That to me pretty much sums up the mindset of these people and what a shame these minds can’t be put to better use like going to school. Maybe then they can break this dreadful cycle of violence.

Rock-throwing 101: An overview‘ makes some very interesting points.

In civilized countries, the act of throwing rocks at people or moving vehicles is considered a serious crime, because victims can be, and have been maimed and killed, as a result. In many states in America, this crime is classified as a felony, or attempted murder. As the research organization CAMERA noted:

In 1986, a U.S. teenager was sentenced to life in prison for throwing a stone from an overpass that killed a toddler in a car below. In 2010, two South Carolina teenagers were indicted on first degree murder charges after killing a woman sitting in the front seat of a car with a stone hurled from an overpass. And, in 2002, even when stone throwing resulted in no injuries, the teenaged perpetrators were charged with assault and battery with intent to kill and malicious injury to personal property. As the Sheriff’s Department explained, throwing rocks “is not a prank. This is extremely dangerous. You could kill somebody doing this.”

Surely teaching a child of this age to throw stones is a crime? Never too young to learn it seems.

There is one place in the world, however, where rock-throwing against those of a different religion is taught, celebrated and rewarded..

The Palestinian territories, historically Judaea and Samaria, which is governed by the Palestinian Authority

‘Palestinians’ view the act of throwing rocks at Jews as a cultural sport, handed down from one generation to the next, much like adults in civilized cultures teach youngsters how to fish, hunt, or catch a football:

Youths hurling stones has long been the indelible icon — some call it a caricature — of Palestinian pushback against Israel: a recent United Nations report said 7,000 minors, some as young as 9, had been detained between 2002 and 2012. Here in Beit Ommar, a village of 17,000 between Bethlehem and Hebron that is surrounded by Jewish settlements, rock throwing is a rite of passage and an honored act of defiance.

Just as the Palestinian Arabs celebrate their martyrs, they do the same with children convicted of rock-throwing.

Not only are there no criminal penalties under the PA for throwing rocks at Jews, Palestinians who are arrested, tried and convicted by Israel for this crime are welcomed home upon their release as heroes and rock stars – especially if they were able to maim or murder one or more Jews as a result of their crimes – as in the case of Bilal Ayad Awad:

Just look at the smug look on the face of the mother. According to the NY Times, when 17-year-old Bilal Ayad Awad (center) was released by Israel after serving a prison term for attempting to murder Jews with rocks, “he was welcomed like a war hero with flags and fireworks, women in wedding finery lining streets to cheer his motorcade.”

The biggest enablers of all: Financial donors – probably including you.’Rock-throwing 101:

As the PA has no functional economy, the bulk of the money it uses to incite hate against Jews, facilitate and reward terrorism, and indoctrinate children comes from donations. Arabic governments donate huge sums to the PA, with the full knowledge of how it is being used.

The biggest non-Arabic sources of funding to the PA, however, are:

(1) Taxpayers in the United States: $300-$500 million per year

(2) Taxpayers in Canada: $60 million per year

(3) Taxpayers in Western Europe: $200 million per year

(See this page for source documentation of the above figures.)

TheMoneyTrail3

In total, the PA received and estimated $1.2 billion in 2013 from international donors – who are told that this money is being used strictly for “charitable” and “humanitarian” purposes. In fact, governments in most Western nations have passed laws that promise taxpayers that none of the aid money that is being extracted from their paychecks is being used to fund terrorism, either directly or indirectly (U.S. example).

Yet as is documented here, there is no longer any doubt that the PA is using the aid money it receives to incite, facilitate and reward terrorism, and indoctrinate children. Further, as documented here, a significant portion of international “humanitarian” aid has been stolen by senior PA officials, and squirreled away in their own personal accounts.

How much in total have both Liberal / National as well as Labor Governments given to these peace partners over the years?
How much control did the donors exercise over the way that the money was spent?
How much of it was spent on cement for tunnels, educating Arab youth in methods of murdering Jewish babies, teaching Arab children that the Jews are offspring of pigs and apes, practical instruction on how Arabs should bathe their hands in the blood of murdered Jews and display this trophy to cheering Arab crowds—- and other peace-promoting activities?

    • Read some of the links Leon, there are plenty of answers there. I was blown away with some of the information out there.

      • Leon Poddebsky

Shirlee, this is a commendable expose.
Which link, specifically, relates to Australia’s largesse to the poor Arabs who call themselves “Palestinians”?

  2. Leon Poddebsky

Amira Hass defends attempted murder by stoning as a metaphor for resistance.
Would she recommend this method also to those who resist her diabolical collaboration with genocidal maniacs?

  3. Can’t remember. I had so many. Some I used and some I didn’t use.
I wish everyone would click more links very few do, which is a shame becasue there is so much information which cannot be put into one article. This one is too long really. Research shows 1,200 to 1,500 is the best length for maximum concentration.

  4. This is a shocking expose of a society which has no civilisational norms and admires barbarity. There is no more barbaric act than to encourage young people to inflict gratuitous violence on those they are indoctrinated to view as the enemy.

During the Hajj, pilgrims perform a number of rituals, one of which is to hurl stones as a pillar, which is supposed to represent the devil. I suspect that, rather than stone throwing being a symbol of resistance, Arabs are taught from an early age that Jews are the devil, and so ritually throw stones at Jews, just as they do during the Hajj.

  5. A few years back, a film called “The Stoning of Soroya X” came out. I went to see it in Melbourne, and it was truly horrifying that this brutality was happening (it was based on a true story). Predictably The Age panned it, but it’s worth watching: http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/movies/the-stoning-of-soraya-m-20100526-wdxq.html

  6. End the occupation and the resistance stops – simple !

    • Jews Down Under

Is that what they teach you in Brisbane?

      Bad teachers.

Where is the occupation you speak of?

    • Leon Poddebsky

Jeff, you seem to be unaware of two basic facts:
      1. the Arab society that calls itself “Palestinian” constantly tells us that in no circumstances will it make peace with a Jewish nation-state. Its behaviour confirms that.
      2. there are no “occupied territories.” Were you to investigate the history of the issue, you would come to the same conclusion.

I presume that you are unaware that Israel has never had an eastern border; only a temporary armistice line subject to negotiations, as stipulated by the UN-brokered armistice agreements of 1949.
I presume that you are unaware that when Israeli forces repulsed the Jordanian aggression in June 1967, they did not cross an international border; they removed the illegal occupation that Jordan had been imposing on Judea -Samaria (“the West Bank’)from which its British-trained-equipped army had in 1948 ethnically cleansed all the Jews (including Old Jerusalem.)
I presume that you are unaware that the bedrock( in international law at least) of Israel’s legitimacy, the 1922 League of Nations and UN-endorsed Mandate, allocated the entire territory between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River to the projected reconstituted Jewish nation-state.
Israel is not claiming its entire entitlement; Israel is claiming what Security Council Resolution 242 endorsed as its right, namely “secure and recognised boundaries.”

A perusal of Martin Gilbert’s Atlas (annotated) of the conflict is a good starting point for people who are interested in facts not propaganda or feel-good pronouncements.

      It really isn’t simple, Jeff.

      • Leon, unfortunately only you and very few others believe your version. The rest of the world, the UN, many Israelis and Jews living in other countries have the view that Israel should leave the West Bank, Golan Heights and cease the cruel blockade on Gaza.
        International law demands this.
Once this happens I and many others as a country like ours. If Israel allows Palestinians a life free of occupation and blockade it will find that in a few generations there will be peace.
Inventing theoretical arguments that have no basis in fact and are only believed by a few extremists does Israel future no benefit at all.
Face the facts – the Palestinian people existed and lived on these LA ends in 1948 and live there today.

        • Leon Poddebsky

Jeff, you have evaded most of my points.
You have erected a straw man against whom to argue.
You have called facts lies and inventions and theories.
Your attitude is that any one who disagrees with you is an extremist.
Your mind is hermetically sealed even to the evidence which is accumulating daily about the nature of the global threat not only to us, but to “your” world, too.

I don’t know what motivates you, but I do know what does not motivate you: you are not motivated by a desire for peace to be achieved in The Land of Israel.
You are not motivated to see justice done either for Jews or Arabs.
You are not motivated by a thirst for facts, evidence or reality.
You are not motivated by a desire to see that the Chamberlainian Western crime of “peace in our time” is not repeated.

          We agree to disagree.

          • The only way there can be peace is if there is a home for Israelis ie Israel and a home for Palestinians ie Palestine.
I won,t claim that Israel shouldn,t exist – it does and it will. But Palestine should exist as well. That should be no less than the 1967 borders.
If that was to happen the worlds view of Israel would change. Not only the US, Canada and Australia would be Israels freinds but most of the worlds countries would as well.
If that does not matter to Israel – it is lost.

          • Leon Poddebsky

… and that would please you and your cohorts enormously.
            It won’t happen, Jeff.
            Forget it.
We are no longer living in the 1930’s.

I did tell you that we agree to disagree, so why a response from you?

Do you really think that your pseudo-case will convince me?

  7. Jeff Knight. I don’t have the time to answer at length now, but please be aware that there are no such people as Palestinians.

There never was a country by that name nor a people.

The Jews are the indigenous people of the region.

If you care to read the Old Testament, prior to the Romans naming the area Syria-Palæastina in the second century CE, it was called the Land of Israel. The Jews were called that or Israelites.

The term Palestinian as a people, was coined by the Soviet ‘dis-information’ masters in 1965 when they wrote the pre-amble for the PLO Constitution.

On June 4th 1967 the “Palestinian ” people were born.

BTW. The majority of ‘thinking’ people with a brain in their heads know the history of the region.

Up until the late 1800s/early 1900s there were very few Arabs in the region. There are books and census figures galore that confirm those facts.

The Arabs started to arrive in great numbers early in the 20th century when there was the prospect of work on offer. We know by their surnames where they originate.

The land which Jordan is occupying, is the land which was designated for the Arabs, in the Mandate for Palestine. Today the so-called ‘Palestinians’ are slightly more than 80% of the population in Jordan.

    • When you have to rely on the bible for justification you have lost I am afraid.
You demonstrate you bigotry by claiming there are no such people as Palestinians, there are because they choose to be. The same could be said of Australians or Americans.
Give up the silly arguments Leon.

      • Leon Poddebsky

        Give up your nonsense, “jeff.”

I’ve told you: we agree to disagree, but you don’t seem to want to.

        • Ok my last word. No I dont think I will convince you or Shirl of Oz.
There is the matter of human rights.
The occupation of the West Bank is illegal under international law because it displaces the rights of the people who live there. The blockade of Gaza is illegal for the same reason.
You should consider those peoples rights to life above all else.
          Goodbye

          • Jeff please check the Oslo Accords which the PA is a signatory to.
Israel has every right to be in control of area C of Judaea and Samaria.

Area B is under joint control

Area A under the control of the PA

          • What about the people who live there now who lived there in 1948 who lived there in 1967 ?
            Dont they have any rights?

          • Jeff, where’s there? Do you mean Judaea and Samaria?
They have rights in area C under Israeli control. Not many Arabs live there.
            Area B is mostly uninhabited.
Area A is under full PA control with close to 2 million Arabs.

If and it’s a big IF, the PA ever decides they want peace and agree to borders, which they have NEVER done, they can do what they like.

  8. Jeff can’t get the point.

YOU CANNOT INVENT A RACE OF PEOPLE.

Australian, apart from our indigenous peoples,is a NATIONALITY, not a race.

As far as the Bible goes, archaeology confirms much of it. I have friend in Adelaide who is a field archaeologist, who has worked extensively in Jordan and Israel, who says prior to the 1600s or there abouts there is not any sign of ANY Arab habitation. This includes the Jordan side of the river Jordan.

There is however plenty of Roman and Jewish habitation.

  9. Jeff sorry not to have answered. Have been busy. I may get time this afternoon, so please don’t think I am rude and ignoring you

  10. Jeff you say “What about the people who live there now who lived there in 1948 who lived there in 1967 ?
    Dont they have any rights?”

Arabs who live in Israel have full rights unlike any other State or region in the ME.
They vote, stand for election and have done since the first election for the Knesset in 1949. That applies to both sexes. There have been Arabs in the Knesset since 1949.
    Men and women are equal
    There is rule of law.
    Freedom of speech
Freedom of religion. It;s the only country in the ME where Christians aren’t murdered or persecuted.
    Gays have equal rights

    • Leon Poddebsky

Shirlee, what about the Jews who lived in “the West Bank” / Judea and Samaria BEFORE 1948 -quite legally since under international law it was the heartland of the Jewish National Home?
Oh that’s right, the Arab Jordanian Legion and its “Palestinian” allies murdered them, and they illegally occupied Old Jerusalem, destroying all the synagogues, desecrating the ancient Jewish cemetery and generally behaving according to the precepts of their chief imam, Haj Amin al Husseini, Hitler’s “Palestinian” Arab adviser on Jewish affairs, who begged the fuhrer to exterminate any Jews in The Land of Israel who might survive the Arab attempt at genocide.

That might be only “an incident of history” to our mortal enemies in the West today, but let us not forget!

  11. Let’s not forget either how the brothers of the ‘future Palestinians’ stole their land from under them when the Hashemites stole Judaea and Samaria which was to be a part the State of Palestine, naming it the West Bank of Jordan. The other side being named Trans-Jordan , meaning the other side of the Jordan River.

Also let’s not forget how their Arab Egyptian brothers stole Gaza from under their noses.

  12. I am afraid that you spend far to much time and effort discussing these issues with people who agree with you.
You obviously dont or cant see how ridiculous your arguements are.
Peace can only be achieved when Israel withdraws its soldiers, settlers and all other expressions of the occupation the borders that existed prior to 1967. And of course stop the blockade of Gaza.
This is what the UN demands, most European countries, South American countries, African countries, most people in Australia….
It is hard to believe that you can so easily dismiss the freedom of more than four million people on the basis historical facts (or maybe myths).
These people ( I call them Palestinians ) have rights as well !

    • I can assure you I don’t spend much time discussing these issues with people who agree with me.
I do a great deal of world in the general community, and have been for for over 10/15 years now, where I have great deal of success turning people’s thoughts around when they learn the facts.
I made friends with an Arab guy on a pro-Palestinian site a few months, when he liked what I was posting and was searching these facts out as I posted them. We are now friends having met for a coffee too.

I think you desperately need to learn then facts. The truth is out there. I contacted someone a year or so back to congratulate her on looking for and posting the truth on her own Blog site. She was confused by so many conflicting facts, and by people who had a foot in one camp or the other, that she decided to check it all out for herself. She was astounded by the misinformation being put out by the Left.

As far as your complaints regarding Arab rights in Judaea and Samaria and Gaza, I’m afraid you will have to speak to Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas.

The UN is a lame duck controlled by Arab/Muslim countries that don’t even recognise the Land of Israel despite the fact it has been their for over 3,000 years.

“Peace can only be achieved when Israel withdraws”

Really? How wrong can you be? That’s when the blood bath begins. You clearly follow the wrong press. Neither the PA or Hamas want peace.

Israel has once again stupidly been supplying the Gaza Strip with construction material, and guess what? Yup, they are already building tunnels. Here’s a report from Al Jazeera AFTER the last conflict ended and Israel was once again supplying cement.
This is a site you should subscribe to in order to see the news directly from the ME media. You will surely have your eyes opened

Egypt destroyed a good number of tunnels recently as well as demolishing 100s of homes. Where’s your complaint on that.?
That’s right. You Leftist sources don’t tell you that, but they sure as hell would of if Israel had done the same thing.
From a neutral source. The Wall Street Journal.

      http://www.wsj.com/articles/egypt-to-demolish-1-220-more-homes-to-increase-gaza-buffer-1420727384

El-Arish, Egypt—The Egyptian army is doubling the size of a buffer zone along the border with the Gaza Strip, an operation that will involve the destruction of 1,220 more homes and the eviction of residents, military officials said Thursday.

The operation will expand the existing 500 meter buffer zone in the north of the Sinai Peninsula. The buffer was created last November to a full kilometer (0.6 mile), a move meant to halt the passage of weapons and militants through cross-border smuggling tunnels but which also puts more pressure on the Palestinian militant Hamas group, which rules the coastal area.

Any more will have to wait for later. I have things to do

  13. Leon Poddebsky

You see, Shirlee, it seems to be irrelevant to some people that the Arabs who call themselves “Palestinians, both leadership and populace, swear that they will never make peace with the nation-state of the Jewish nation.
It seems to be irrelevant to some people that the “Palestinian” indoctrination system is operating at full steam to instil this ethos throughout its population.
It seems to be irrelevant to some people that Jews have rights, too, even though they are enshrined in international law.

It is not fanciful to argue that “these people’s” position has been established on the basis of the societal myths and stereotypes that Western society has been pumping into them for 2,000 years, initially as theology, subsequently in the form of cultural transmission.

  14. This is such a thorough and fascinating account of a horrible situation. So much here to digest and remember. I’ll be back to read it again and again until I will have absorbed everything. So much to learn!

  15. Is this article some kind of sick joke? Those children were most likely stoning cars because the IDF just murdered their parents and bulldozed their homes. And how many billions does Israel take in aid to stage their false flag operations? The King David Hotel, the Lavon affair, USS Liberty, to name a few. Israel is a terrorist state, always has been, and always will be.

  16. Jews Down Under

Boca Raton, Florida well I never. Obviously they breed you ignorant there.

You are certainly uninformed, unknowledgeable and lacking of awareness in general. Clearly having no idea of the truth.

The comment is just so unworthy of an answer it is beyond funny.

Just BTW, the PA and Hamas receive far more money annually than Israel, which actually doesn’t receive aid. It has a thriving economy.

………………and whilst you exhibit such hatred for Israel, I suggest you buy yourself a pencil and paper and/or get back to the Stone Age. Most of your computer parts are invented and/or manufactured in Israel. Definitely stay away from Microsoft, outside of the US their largest R & D centre is there, plus many other IT companies. You see Israel is the largest producer in the world of software and Apps too
    .
Throw away your mobile phone, stay off chat lines, USB Drive, remote controls, in fact fall off the world all and more, much more are Israeli invented or made.

Pray too you don’t need medication, a vast number of drugs are manufactured and developed in Israel. If you have a bad heart or blocked arteries say goodbye to the world.

Mahmoud Abbas is crying he has no money to pay the court in the US which found him and the PA guilty of death by terrorism. Yet he manages to have $13 Million to build a Royal Palace. If you didn’t know this you clearly don’t frequent the right sites.
