Here is a typical scene you will see everywhere in mixed Jewish-Arab areas of Israel. Because of the poisonous anti-Israel propaganda that permeates the Western narrative, visitors to Israel are often surprised by such scenes. Remember this when some leftist idiot starts talking about Israeli ‘apartheid’.
Also remember where the real apartheid lies in the Middle East. Israeli Jews cannot step foot in Palestinian controlled areas without risking their lives – indeed it is becoming increasingly dangerous for Jews to enter many Arab neighbourhoods and villages even inside Israel.
Abbas said in a briefing to a group of mainly Egyptian journalists:
“In a final resolution, we would not see the presence of a single Israeli – civilian or soldier – on our lands.”
But at least that will make any future Palestinian State entirely consistent with the apartheid policies of apartheid in the Arab world.
Apartheid was a system in South Africa under which a small minority of whites ruled over the larger black majority population. Apartheid subjected blacks to severe political, economic and social discrimination and segregation. They could not be citizens, vote, participate in the government or fraternize with whites.
Israel, a democracy like western countries gives equal rights, liberties and protections to all its citizens. Israeli-Arabs participate as full and equal members in Israeli society.
Public transport, places of entertainment , park benches, public toilets, cafes and restaurants are not segregated. There is no prohibition of interracial sexual relations. There has been an Arab and an Ethiopian Miss Israel, there has been an Arab-Israeli representative at the Eurovision Song Contest, a Druze now commands the IDF’s elite Golani Brigade (nor is he the first Druze to command one of the IDF’s elite brigades). There have been – and are – Arab Supreme Court judges and Government Ministers. This is not apartheid.
The Voice ישראל.
“This is Israel’s darling Lina Makhoul who has just won The Voice Israel with the most soaring and moving rendition of the Leonard Cohen classic Hallelujah you will hear anywhere.
Lina is a nineteen year old Israeli Arab from Acre who now has a record contract and a scholarship. Given how quickly copyright holders have pounced on internet videos that seems likely to be a handsome contract.”

Miss Israel – Rana Raslan
The current Miss Israel, at just 21 years old, Yityish Aynaw has gone on a remarkable life journey from a little girl playing barefoot in an Ethiopian village to an Israeli beauty queen who’s ready to shine on the world stage.
Last February, the stunning 21-year-old grabbed international attention after becoming the first woman of African descent to be crowned Miss Israel at the country’s beauty pageant.
“To be first, you have all the attention focused on you and I have to represent my whole ethnic group because through me they see the models,”
says Aynaw, who will represent Israel at the next Miss Universe contest.
“Through me they see and discover our whole ethnic group.”
The winner, Tom Franz, grew up in Cologne, Germany, and immigrated to Israel eight years ago. Other contestants came from Venezuela and France, and another lived for a while in Italy and Belgium.
“That’s what makes MasterChef so popular. Israel is filled with different people and different styles of cooking. A true melting pot,”
senior content editor Dorit Gvirtzman tells ISRAEL21c.
“The beauty of MasterChef is it’s a show that looks at a person through food. There are stories in the food.”
The three finalists – Franz, who converted from Catholicism to Judaism, Salma Fiomy-Farij, a hijab-wearing Arab-Israeli, and Jacki Azulay, an ultra-Orthodox Jewish woman – couldn’t have written a better script for a reality show than their real-life stories.
Runner-up Fiomy-Farij is a neuroscience researcher with a passion for Arabic and Italian foods. She showed that one can be true to tradition and also live a modern lifestyle.
Israel is the only nation in the Middle East that does not practice any form of apartheid:
- Jordan prohibits Jews from becoming citizens or owning land;
- Saudi Arabia practices gender apartheid;
- All Muslim countries engage in sexual-orientation apartheid;
- Hamas is notorious for its anti-Christian apartheid; and
- the Palestinian Authority has said that “no Jew” will ever be allowed to live in a Palestinian state.
Israel, on the other hand, is a racially diverse country that officially recognizes over 15 religions, from Islam and Christian denominations to the Baha’i Faith. 76% of Israel are Jews of different ethnicities from over 80 countries around the globe. 24% are Arabs, including Muslims, Christians, Druze and Bedouins.
Arabs have served in the Knesset (Parliament) since the very first parliament in 1949, even in the Cabinet. Currently there are 12.
Bedouin Arabs also serve voluntarily in the IDF as do Druze.
Arabs sit in the Supreme Court, on University faculties and even in the Cabinet.
The court that recently convicted Israel’s former president of rape included an Arab judge. Nothing like this ever happened in apartheid South Africa.
Speaking before journalists in Ramallah in February 2011, PA leader Mahmoud Abbas re-iterated:
“We have already said, completely openly, and it will stay that way: ‘If there is a Palestinian country with Jerusalem as its capital, we will not accept that even one single Jew will live there.’“
…now THAT IS APARTHEID
Speaking of Journalists, the most well known, well respected Israeli-Arab journalist.
Surely Apartheid USA would be more likely given this?
